Thanks so much for reaching out, Nelnet.
Or, well, I just gave you a call at the number you provided, and the caller ID read “Brazos Student Loans”? A quick Google search tells me Brazos is a student loan provider for Texas residents. Hmm, well that’s sort of confusing, since I’ve never been a Texas resident. But I suppose “best loan experience” doesn’t need to cover updates on name changes or switches in services—whatever happened there! Let me know when you have a chance, though, will you? No rush at all. I know you’re busy “helping however you can”.
I imagine things can’t be very easy for you, can they? Persistently demanding high monthly payments and overseeing compounding interest. Gosh, maintaining any systemic tool—let alone long-term student debt—that sounds exhausting! I can relate. After 15 ½ years of having to defer wealth-building opportunities and passion-driven work for higher-paying jobs, I’m pretty exhausted, too. But, I totally understand we’re not comparing not apples to apples here. More like an apple to a commercial orchard, amirite?
Your burden is so much bigger and more important than mine! Here I am, perpetually six figures in the red, while you’ve more than doubled earnings on your end—up from $600 billion in 2008 to $1.6 trillion in 2023. I must be doing something very wrong! Maybe if I were smarter or more productive or creative, I could be a trillionaire, too, just like you. Anything’s possible in this country, right?
The American Dream is very much alive. I can feel it. After all, what could be more patriotic than providers like, you, Nelnet (or is it Brazos?—really do let me know about that one), spamming my inbox, pitifully disguising predatory debt as some hollow, lean-on-me “experience”? Stars and stripes 4eva, baby!
Xoxo,
AMNA
